The committee has decided that membership fees for 2020/21 will be waived and that your current membership will be valid until September 2021. This decision will not greatly affect our funds as there has been little expenditure so far this year.
The committee will review the whole situation in September, along with making a decision on the planned Quiz Night on 7 October.
Due to the current guidelines on social gatherings and uncertainty about the future, the management committee have decided that there will be no WNTA lecture meetings until January. Members, who have e-mail facilities, should have received the message, published below. If you know of any members who do not use e-mail, perhaps you could let them know.
Message to all members from Bill Adamson, Vice Chair, on behalf of the management committee.
We hope that you are managing to keep fit and well during this difficult time and that you are at least able to go outside into the glorious sunshine for a short period every day. Up to now we have been most fortunate with the weather and we must thank our lucky stars that we are not locked down in a miserable, cold November.
Unfortunately it seems unlikely that we will be able to resume normal life and activities in the foreseeable future. Consequently, the committee has decided that we will not be meeting again for our talks until after Christmas at the earliest. We will not be cancelling the planned social activities for October just in case there is an important step forward in dealing with Covid19 and will let you know later in the year about those.
We are all most disappointed that we cannot meet and enjoy the intellectual stimulation of our talks and the companionship of our members, but it will hopefully be even better when we can meet again.
All the very best
